Agent confirms Gaba will leave current club

South Africa-based striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango’s agent Mike Makaab has confirmed the player’s imminent departure from his current Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants.

This comes after the Flames forward told our sister newspaper, The Nation, that he is set to leave the club upon expiry of his contract next month.

Makaab, was quoted by online South African publication FARPost as saying: “I can tell you that Gabadinho Mhango will leave Marumo Gallants at the end of the season and join a new club.

“When you look at Mhango and how he has performed at his club, he has given it his all, but he will definitely leave at the end of the season.”

On Monday, the 32-year-old talismanic striker said he is currently weighing offers from other teams.

He was responding to a question on what the future holds for him upon the expiry of his contract.

He said: “The season is coming to an end, we have our last game this Saturday [today].

“There are some offers on the table. A couple of teams have made offers and very soon, I will decide and finalise a deal. There are no worries.”

The former FCB Nyasa Bullets, Bloemfontein Celtic, Lomontville Golden Arrows, Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu FC and Moroka Swallows striker recently took Gallants to court over an image rights dispute.

But he could not be drawn to comment on whether that is the reason he is weighing offers from elsewhere.

Mhango was also not in the Gallants squad that faced Chippa United at the weekend, but said his unavailability was not related to the court case.

He said: “Not at all. I was not available because I haven’t fully recovered from the ankle injury I sustained during [the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier] against Namibia.

“I still experience some pain and it was aggravated when a teammate tackled me from behind during training last week.”

Mhango, who jointly won the 2019/20 South African flagship league golden boot with Peter Shalulile after tying on 16 goals, is Gallants’ leading scorer with five goals, 11 behind the league’s leading scorer Lucas Ribeiro Costa of Mamelodi Sundowns.
